This HART tool, available in two types, ATEX (MFC5150x) and standard (MFC5150), directly reads the descriptions of HART sensors without subscription, whatever their type; this solution enables remote communication with any device installed with registered or unregistered 4-20ma hart protocol, using the digital signal in the loop.

How to use the Hart pocket

Pocket Hart is easy to set up. All you need is the HART communicator, your field instruments and a power supply.

  1. Switching on and off:
    On: Press the power button to switch on the Hart field console.
    Off: Navigate to the main menu and select the 'On' or 'Off' option.
  2. Connection to a Hart field device:
    Connect the HART pocket to the analog signal wires at the device terminals. In general, the red wire connects to the positive terminal and the black wire connects to the negative terminal. It may be necessary to add a load resistor in the loop to facilitate the link between your device and your sensor or transmitter.
    Make sure that the device is powered up and in a mode that allows communication.
  3. Navigating the menu:
    Once the device is switched on, the main menu displays various options.
    Use the arrow keys or the MCF5150 touchscreen to navigate through the menu.
    Select the desired option by pressing or tapping the "Enter" key.
  4. Device configuration:
    In the main menu, select "Device configuration" or a similar option.
    The pocket MCF5150 establishes communication, searches for connected HART sensors and displays a list.
    Select the device you wish to configure, for example a Hart sensor or a Hartpressure transmitter .
    Navigate the device-specific menus to modify parameters such as setpoints, ranges and other configurations.
    Always refer to the device manual for details on specific parameters.
  5. Monitoring:
    You can monitor real-time data from field devices, such as process variables, status and diagnostic information.
    Our communicators allow you to view trend graphs or data logs.
  6. Diagnostics and troubleshooting:
    The HART pocket can perform diagnostic tests on the connected device.
    If there is a problem with the field device, the Hart tool displays error messages or codes. Refer to the device manual for troubleshooting according to these codes.
  7. Saving and transferring configurations:
    After making changes, always save the settings.
    Hart communicators allow you to transfer configurations between instruments or to a computer for saving.
  8. Updating the Hart communicator:
    Check the Fuji Electric manufacturer's website regularly for software updates for HART communicators.
    Connect the console to a laptop and follow the manufacturer's instructions to update the software.
