An electromagnetic flow meter, or magnetic flow meter, is a flow-measuring device for conductive fluids. It operates on the basis of Faraday's law, generating an electrical signal proportional to the flow rate of the fluid passing through its magnetic field. With no moving parts, it provides accurate measurement, is easy to maintain and is suitable for a variety of industrial applications.

Electromagnetic flow meters are ideal for measuring the flow of all liquids with a minimum conductivity of 5 μS/cm (20 μS/cm for demineralized water).
These electromagnetic meters are highly accurate, and the measurement of volume flow is not dependent on the density, temperature or pressure of the medium.

The measuring principle of electromagnetic flow meters, or magnetic flow meters, is based on Faraday's law: The voltage induced by a conductor moving through a magnetic field is directly proportional to the conductor's velocity. The induced voltage is measured across two diametrically opposed electrodes. This voltage is proportional to the magnetic field, the distance between the two electrodes, and the average velocity of the fluid.

Electromagnetic measurement offers many advantages over other flow measurement methods.
Here are some of the main advantages of this flow measurement technology:
High precision
Reliability
Flexibility
Security

Electromagnetic flow meters are widely used in a variety of industrial applications, thanks to their accuracy and reliability. They can be used wherever the flow of a conductive liquid needs to be measured, whatever the industrial sector : chemical, pharmaceutical, paper, food or water treatment.
Here are a few concrete examples of their use:

Electromagnetic meters are designed to provide maximum safety and reliability.
Here are some of the features that ensure their performance:

With excellent reliability over time (no moving parts), high accuracy (±0.2%) and total absence of pipe pressure drop, our electromagnetic flowmeters are perfectly suited to your measurement requirements.

All important flowmeter parameters are measured, compared and evaluated. The accuracy of the converter, its inputs and outputs, as well as the most important sensor parameters, are measured continuously, quickly and easily, without interrupting flow measurement. This ensures that the magnetic flowmeter operates safely and optimally.
The verification console allows for periodic on-site verification of the proper operation of M1000, M2000, and M5000 electromagnetic flowmeters at low cost and without interrupting the process. Using this verification tool, it is possible to verify—without disassembling the device—that the flowmeter’s calibration does not deviate by more than ±1% from the original factory calibration.
