What-is-the-principle-of-the-ultrasonic-liquid-flow-meter-FSV

What is the principle of FSV ultrasonic flow meter ?

Ultrasonic flow meter measures flow by operating on the transit time principle technology.
This clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter works by comparing the travel time of an ultrasonic signal in the direction of flow (downstream) and the counterflow sound wave (upstream).
These high-frequency ultrasound signals are generated by two clamp-on transducers through the pipe wall.
The difference between these two transit times is proportional to the flow rate. The ultrasonic flow meter converts these measuring data into a flow measurement.

How does the FSV ultrasonic liquid flow meter workHow does the Time DELTA-C ultrasonic liquid flow meter work?

The FSV ultrasonic flow meter uses clamp-on transducers for measuring flow rates.
These sensors attach to the outside of pipes and can be used on wide pipe sizes from 13 to 6000 mm (0.5 to 235 inches) at liquid temperatures from -40 to 200°C (-40 to 390°F).
The required pipe system layout is a straight run of 10x and 5x pipe diameters upstream and downstream respectively.
The clamp on ultrasonic transducers are mounted outside the pipe, which is a superior method compared to insertion flow meters and other more traditional invasive flow measurement instruments.
This transit time ultrasonic technology offers minimal maintenance and significantly reduced the installation time.

This product is virtually maintenance free.

What are the advantages of the Time DELTA-C ultrasonic flow meter ?

Advanced digital signal processing and anti-bubble technology

Advanced electronic signal processing technology allows the FSV ultrasonic flow meter to offer a compact, lightweight solution for flow measurement with high accuracy better than ±1 % of flow, and with minimal influence of pressure or temperature of the measured fluid.
In addition, it offers best-in-class anti-bubble performance, allowing accurate readings even on process when air bubble content reaches 12 % of volume at a velocity of 0.3 m/s.

Wide range of flow measurement signal outputs

The transit time clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter has three signal outputs that can be selected to display flow measurements (volumic flow or mass flow) and total flow.
Various output options, such as 4-20 mA signal output, transistors pulse output and digital communication are available.
Configurable alarm thresholds can be set to detect overshoot in flow measurement, switch on a relay and allow rapid action to be taken for the safety of your process.

Large range of flow measurement applications

The time delta-C ultrasonic flow meter can measure flow on full pipes on a wide choice of pipe materials (carbon steel, stainless steel,...) and pipe sizes.
These sensors clamp to the outside of pipes and cover pipe diameters from 13 to 6000 mm at liquid temperatures from -40 to 200 deg C.
The easy commissioning makes them suitable for temporary flow measurement or continuous monitoring of flow with excellent accuracy on clear liquids.
The clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter' rugged construction makes them ideal for installation in internal and external environments where IP66 (NEMA 4X) protection is required.

Minimal maintenance

The clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter is using clamp-on transducers with no contact with the wetted liquid.
These clamp-on sensors have no moving parts. It means that the ultrasonic flow meter does require minimal maintenance compared to other flow technologies like magnetic flow meter or orifice plate DP flow meter.
The clamp on ultrasonic flow meter does not need to be calibrated periodically. You can count on these  meters every day.
This measuring instrument allows you to guarantee high accuracy and reliable flow measurement in the long term without amputating your maintenance budget.

Easy and low cost installation

Thanks to the clamp-on transducers, the ultrasonic flow meter can be installed in a couple of minutes.

  1. You don't need to cut the tube or weld new flanges.
  2. You don't need to stop your process for the installation of the meter.
  3. You don't have system downtime
  4. You don't have system contamination

The same clamp on ultrasonic flow meter can be used over various pipe sizes from small to large diameters.
These meters are also designed for processes where you are unable to install an in-line flow meter or when you need temporary flow measurement to control your process.
The system requires a straight pipe run of 10x and 5x pipe diameters for up-stream and down-stream respectively.
By using a clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter, you can monitor flow easily without wasting your precious time and money.

Energy-saving clamp-on flow measurement technology

The clamp on ultrasonic flow meters offers the best technology for energy-saving applications.
They don't have moving parts or intrusive sensors that can create a pressure drop in the pipe at flow metering.
You can measure water flow while saving money in the short term by using the clamp on water flow meters.

Simple-and-intuitive-operator-interface

Simple and intuitive operator interface

The FSV ultrasonic flow meter is a compact meter with a large choice of reading displays.
Configuration is simple and intuitive using push buttons on the front panel.
The ultrasonic flow meter electronic converter calculates the sensor spacing and guides you for the commissioning.
It can be configured to automatically calibrate the zero of the flow meter.
An LCD display and an integrated keypad allow the user to configure the unit simply and easily and to view the range of parameters.
The internal menus are available in several languages (French, English, German, Spanish and Japanese).

Communication function for industry 4.0

The optional communication function permits to transmit flow rate measurement data through the RS485 Modbus interface over distances of up to 350m.
These flow measurement data can be used to monitor and better control your processes.
It makes this ultrasonic flow meter ideal for the integration of your Industry 4.0 instrumentation network.

PC configuration software

PC-software-configurationThe ultrasonic flow meter can also be configured using PC-compatible free software and a communication cable allowing multiple configurations to be stored and downloaded to flowmeter from a PC

The free PC software allows :

  •         Configuration of internal parameters
  •         Sensor Spacing Calculation tool
  •         Commissioning assistance (logging, oscilloscope mode, maintenance functions etc.)

What are the applications of the ultrasonic liquid flow meter FSVWhat are the applications of the ultrasonic flow meter FSV ?

The ultrasonic flow meter Time Delta-C model FSV consists of a sensor that can be installed on the conduct (DN 13 to 6000 mm depending on the sensor) and a remotely mounted digital converter.
The flow velocity can be bidirectional and vary from -32 to +32 m/s. FSV utrasonic flow meter is well suited to relatively clean fluids with low to moderate aeration.

Non-intrusive ultrasonic flow meter is highly accurate in measuring the flow in many industrial process applications :
