Safety certifications and ATEX / IECEx compliance

Fuji Electric's HMI V9 Ex human-machine interfaces benefit from international certifications attesting to their reliability in explosive atmospheres. They comply with the requirements of several internationally recognized organizations:

  • European ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU): essential for equipment intended for explosive environments in the European Union. It guarantees that the product complies with safety standards specific to use in hazardous atmospheres.
  • IECEx certification (IEC 60079): international standard facilitating product acceptance in many countries outside the EU.

V9 ATEX HMI models are marked according to the Ex nA IIC T5 Gc code, which precisely describes the level of protection:

Explosion Proof marking: Ex nA IIC T5 Gc

- Ex: the product is designed for an explosive atmosphere.
- nA (non-incendive / non-sparking): the design of the HMI prevents any sparks or sources of ignition, even in the event of a fault.
- IIC: targeted gas category, including the most explosive such as hydrogen and acetylene.
- T5: maximum device surface temperature set at 100°C, limiting any risk of ignition by heat.
- Gc (Zone 2): equipment designed for areas where the risk of explosion is occasional, in normal or temporarily disturbed operation.

This level of certification enables the V9Ex human-machine interface to be integrated into safety-critical systems, while maintaining a small footprint, flexible installation and intuitive user interface.

Technical specifications of V9 ATEX HMI models

The V9 ATEX HMI models have been designed with specific adaptations to meet the requirements of hazardous environments, in addition to their standard counterparts. These adjustments guarantee installation in compliance with safety standards, while maintaining the performance and ergonomics of the V9 human-machine interface range:

- 90° vertical mounting required to guarantee heat dissipation and compliance with T5 marking (100°C max).
- 8 mounting brackets required for 12.1" models (V9120iSD-U800 and V9120iSLD-U800) to ensure reinforced hold, versus 4 for standard models.
- Audio port disabled in ATEX zones (Zone 2), to avoid any risk from uncertified components. The port can still be used outside ATEX zones.
- ATEX marking label visible on the housing, attesting to compliance with the European directive and facilitating regulatory inspections.

These features make the V9 ATEX HMIs a robust, safe and compliant solution for applications in potentially explosive atmospheres, while ensuring continuity with the MONITOUCH series user experience.
