Features

Flow measurement is performed by measuring maximum velocity. The probe is positioned in the center of the pipe. The shape of the velocity profile depends on the Raynolds number. The velocity is equal to ±2% of the maximum velocity x 0.84 (this coefficient can also be calculated using the Vennard and Blasius formulas), provided the flow is turbulent. The Pitot tube measures this flow by generating a differential pressure proportional to the dynamic pressure of the fluid when placed in the flowing fluid. The differential pressure generated is a function of axial velocity, fluid density and probe geometry (probe coefficient K0).

This differential pressure is measured by an FCX series pressure transmitter connected to the HP and BP connections. 5RB series Pitot tubes are available for all circular pipes from Ø50 mm to Ø1600 mm and for rectangular ducts. These are single-point pitot tubes for flow measurement using differential pressure. Ideal for difficult conditions. Pitot tubes are speed/flow probes that deliver a differential pressure proportional to the square of the speed. Inserted into a pipe, these probes measure fluid velocity at any point in the pipe. Thanks to their design, they generate a differential pressure > 20% of the dynamic pressure. Series 5RB pitot tubes are suitable for measurements in gases, with low pressure drop. Their robust construction guarantees rigidity and longevity, and installation is easy and economical.
